HanziDrip ("the app") is a Chinese vocabulary learning app for iOS. This page explains what data the app handles and how.

Summary

HanziDrip does not require an account, does not collect your name, email, or location, contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites. Your learning data stays on your device and, if enabled, syncs privately through your own iCloud account.

Information we do not collect

HanziDrip does not ask you to create an account or sign in with a username, email, or password. We do not collect your name, contact details, location, or any advertising identifiers, and the app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software of any kind.

Information stored on your device

To function, HanziDrip stores the following data locally on your device:

Your HSK level selection and app settings (such as theme and widget refresh interval)
Your vocabulary learning progress (which words you've reviewed, review dates, and bookmarks)
Your daily word history

This data is bundled together with the app's built-in vocabulary dictionary, which is stored locally on your device and never leaves it.

iCloud sync

If you're signed into iCloud, HanziDrip uses Apple's CloudKit to privately sync your learning progress and daily word history to your own private iCloud account, so it carries over when you use the app on more than one of your devices. This sync happens directly between your device and your personal iCloud storage through Apple's infrastructure — HanziDrip's developer does not operate a server and never receives or has access to this data.

Home screen widget

HanziDrip's home screen widget reads your local progress and settings data to display a rotating vocabulary word. This happens entirely on your device and involves no network transmission.

Pronunciation playback

Word pronunciations are generated on-device using Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine. No audio or word data is sent anywhere for this feature.

Premium subscription (in-app purchase)

HanziDrip Premium is purchased and managed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Your payment information is handled by Apple — HanziDrip never receives or stores your card details. Apple may process purchase-related data under its own privacy policy; see Apple's Privacy Policy for details. You can view or cancel a subscription anytime via your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Children's privacy

HanziDrip does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Since the app requires no account, no personal information is ever entered into the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
